I am a tech-savvy geoscientist who specialised in data science, geospatial data(base) design, processing and management. Currently I am the data manager for The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Biodiversity and Heritage (CABAH) that focuses on the natural, historic and Indigenous heritage of Australia.
I love to use open-source solutions like R language, (Post)GIS and PostgreSQL to handle both recent and legacy data across research disciplines – e.g. archaeology, palaeontology, or geomorphology – aiming to create solid data products according to FAIR1 and OPEN standards. During my daily work I capitalise on strongholds of my scientific expertise, as for instance multivariate statistics, geomorphology, radiometric dating methods, or mapping.
As a core member of OCTOPUS database management group, I have long-standing experience in clean and sustainable data design where form, indeed, first follows function, but still is a substantial measure of communication. Not least I am, therefore, intrigued by appealing information graphics and aesthetic maps.
